Joint Expeditionary force

Led by the UK, the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) is a partnership of northern European nations that works together to respond quickly to emerging security challenges. 

Bringing together countries with shared values and common interests, JEF helps protect vital infrastructure, safeguard important sea routes, and strengthen security across the North Atlantic, Arctic and Baltic regions. 

By working together every day, JEF nations can respond rapidly to threats, support stability, and help prevent crises from escalating.

The UK depends on secure trade routes, reliable energy supplies and digital connections that link us to the world. 

Many of these digital connections run across or beneath the seas around northern Europe. Undersea cables carry vast amounts of the world's communications and data, while shipping routes support trade, jobs and economic prosperity.
