RM Norton Manor is a crucial training establishment that plays a pivotal role in shaping Royal Marines into highly skilled and adaptable warriors, ready to respond to any task or mission assigned to them.

Norton Manor Camp, located near Taunton in Somerset, has been the residence of 40 Commando Royal Marines since 1983. This area is known for its stunning natural beauty, including the Blackdown and Quantock Hills, as well as the picturesque Somerset Levels.
Base sports facilities
The Sarawak Gymnasium at RMC 40 is a multi-use facility, offering a number of areas to aid your workouts, training sessions, competitive sports and other fitness activities.
Areas provided here include:
- Climbing wall
- Squash court
- Boxing and combat room
- Fully-equipped weights machine room
The majority of the gym is taken up by large sports hall, which is complete with a functional fitness suite.
Largely used for the rehabilitation of Service personnel, we have a 25m by 5.5m swimming pool, which reaches a depth of 1.2m.
With a capacity for 12 bathers at any one time, the dated but functional pool can be booked by entitled users for bathing throughout the week and at weekends.

We have a range of areas for you to enjoy outdoor team sports, recreational activities and fitness sessions. Alongside our training areas, which include pull bars and dip stations, we also offer:
- Grass football and rugby pitches
- One cricket pitch
- Two tennis courts
- We're also delighted to provide a 2.2 mile Trim Trail route, complete with various workstations along its route.
