Base sports facilities

The SARC is equipped with two 24 hour health and fitness facilities, one a cardiovascular (CV) section, and the other a functional gym. Each area is alarmed, CCTV monitored and benefits from coded entry.

The CV section, which includes a free and assisted weights area, and the functional gym are available following induction.

With both areas allowing access through the week on a 24/7 basis, they're available for use at weekends when the rest of the SARC is closed

.

Here at the SARC, we're delighted to provide a fully functioning 24/7 female friendly gym.

The Sue Berrow Suite provides an area to workout that's private and specifically intended for female use.

Equipment here includes:

  • Treadmills
  • Multi-gym machine

The Sue Berrow Suite remains available 24 hours a day through the week, including at weekends when the SARC facility is closed.

We're delighted to offer a maternity suite to our visitors, which is available for both pre and post-natal mothers.

A range of fitness classes are available, allowing them to be conducted in a comfortable, child-friendly and accommodating environment.

Further information on use of the suite and available classes can be obtained from PT staff at The SARC.

The indoor gyms can host a number of indoor sports and activities.

The functional gym includes an outdoor functional rig next to the entrance, while the large strength and conditioning gym has an attached rowing and indoor cycling suite.

Both gyms remain open 24/7, allowing you to continue to workout through the weekend when the rest of The SARC is closed.

There are two squash courts within The SARC at HMS Sultan, and a further three on the technical side of the establishment. Rackets and balls are available for loan from the main office.

Our spinning suite is equipped for up to 11 class members, and has an additional bike for the instructor. Weekly classes are available to all users and are advertised on the weekly sports programme.

Our multi-use games area is located next to the accommodation area of HMS Sultan. Suitable for a wide range of disciplines, it can be used for five-a-side football and other small team games, various sports and a host of fitness activities.

Our climbing wall is located within Brunel Gym on the technical side of HMS Sultan.
