HMNB Clyde
HM Naval Base Clyde – commonly known throughout the Navy as Faslane – is the Royal Navy’s main presence in Scotland. It is home to the core of the Submarine Service, including the nation’s nuclear deterrent, and the new generation of hunter-killer submarines.

Role of the base
The Royal Naval Armaments Depot at Coulport, 8 miles from Faslane, is responsible for the storage, processing, maintenance and issue of key elements of the UK's Trident Deterrent Missile System and the ammunitioning of all submarine embarked weapons.

Base sports facilities
The Sportsdrome has four key health and fitness areas:
- Functional fitness suite
- Cardiovascular (CV) suite
- Weights room
- Boxing gym
The Main Games Hall/Area (MGA) is located at the front of the Sportsdrome and is actually the smaller of the two sports halls. Equipped with a spectating balcony, the space can facilitate a range of indoor sports, including:
- Five-a-side football
- Badminton
- Volleyball
- Cricket, with nets available
- Modern climbing wall
The Stand Alone Sports Hall (SASH) is to the rear of the building. Accommodating activities and sports similar activities to the MGA, it is also equipped for boxing training.
We can provide two hard backed indoor squash courts, complete with spectating balcony.
The Neptune yoga suite is located in the glass backed squash courts which can also offer an area suitable for two table tennis courts.
An indoor 15-bike spinning suite, with instructors bike, is also available.
The Sportsdrome has a state-of-the-art golf simulator.
Installed with the latest software and technology to help improve your swing, it's ideal for golfers of all abilities, experience and interest level to improve their game, practice or relax no matter what the weather is doing outside.
We have a 25m indoor swimming pool, featuring four lanes and a small spectator gallery. The pool also benefits from a steam room facility.

- Monday: 07:00 - 16:45
- Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday: 07:00 - 19:45
- Fridays: Closed
- Saturday and Sunday: 10:00 - 13:45
Please be reminded that the pool is closed all day on Fridays.
HMS Neptune Sportsdrome is also able to offer a range of outdoor sports and recreational activity areas, which include two Astroturf pitches:
- One Astroturf pitch is sand-based, and used for the RN Fitness test. It can also be used for hockey.
- The other Astroturf pitch is 3G and suitable for football and rugby.
We also provide two sand-based multi-use games areas (MUGA) which can be used for tennis and small sided team sports and activities.
