Aim

To prepare officers for Communication duties at sea and for Staff Communications Officer and instructional duties ashore.

  • Naval manoeuvring instructions and fleet work
  • Data message processing
  • Tactical voice procedures acquaint
  • Radio communications organisations/communications security
  • Radio communications principles
  • Visual signalling procedures acquaint
  • Electronic warfare acquaint
  • Ceremonial acquaint
  • GMDSS Short Range Certificate (SRC)

Requirements

  • Must have at least 1-year sea experience and have Bridge Watchkeeping experience to a minimum of OOW2 level
  • Note: Where IELTS is at 5.5 it may be possible to arrange further assessment in order to meet the course requirements

Qualifications gained

  • GMDSS SRC Module, once passed, results in a Royal Yachting Association recognised qualification
  • Successful students will be awarded with a Pass, Pass with Merit, or Pass with Distinction

 

NOTE

This course is designed for junior officer with limited military communications or technical background and not for those with any in depth experience. The course involves a great deal of self study.
