To study, from the UK perspective, the principles, planning and conduct of Joint, Combined and Multi-National operations in a cross government setting and at the Operational level. The course is practitioner based.

Course Requirements
On completion, the IMS will be able to:
- Determine international and domestic jurisdictional boundaries as they pertain to maritime activities
- Prepare a team to conduct a boarding at sea
- Arrest or detain a subject
- Properly utilize the Use of Force (UOF) continuum during a boarding scenario. Complete a reality based boarding scenario utilizing techniques and tactics learned throughout the subject in a safe and effective manner
- Demonstrate the appropriate level of the UOF continuum during reality based scenarios
- Detect and identify hidden compartments on a vessel where contraband maybe located
- Detect and identify common occupational hazards on board vessels
- Properly identify and test illicit substances
