Aim
Maritime Security (MarSy) training provides International Maritime Students (IMS) with the process, tools, knowledge and understanding to conduct Host Nation’s maritime security operations planning within claimed maritime boundaries, local and international laws and treaties in a variety of operational setting
Course details
This subject is a familiarization of maritime tactical planning and maritime security, based on UK National Strategy activities and concepts. It is designed for both NCOs to Junior Officer (and civilian equivalent) to develop an understanding of:
- Maritime Tactical Estimate Process and tools
- Maritime domain Awareness (incl. UNCLOS)
- Establish maritime security objectives
- Assess maritime security risks
- UK Maritime Security
- Highlight approach to preparing and conducting maritime security operations in International Waters and Territorial Seas
Exams and Qualifications gained
On completion, the IMS will be able to:
- Comprehend and apply the Maritime Tactical Planning Process
- Explain the Maritime Domain and understand the maritime security objectives
- Understand the core Maritime Security Tasks
- Determine international and domestic jurisdictional boundaries pertaining to maritime activities
- Plan and prepare a maritime security operation (when incorporated with the Maritime Planning Course)
- Understand the Command and Control (C2) of maritime security operations
- Understand the comprehensive range of maritime security activity
Remarks
This subject is 100% classroom based and will incorporate opportunities for IMS to conduct classroom planning through a scenario based exercise.
