Aim
To train officers and ratings of the Warfare specialisations in the non-tactical control of helicopters.

- RN and NATO Helicopters
- Control rules and Techniques
- Duties and Responsibilities of the AC
- Joining and Handover procedures
- Flying briefs
- Launch and Recovery procedures
- Control emergencies
- Helicopter emergencies
- IFF
- Search and Rescue
- Altimetry
- Meteorology
- Emission control
- Airspace reservations and NOTAMs
- Flight publications, Maps and Charts
Requirements
Candidates need to be able to operate a high speed radio circuit in English fluently.
Exams and Qualifications gained
- Practical exercises and progress tests run throughout the course
- NATO Countries – Awarded HC(NT) (U) qualification
- Non-NATO Countries – Trained and examined to the same standard as NATO countries, but not formally awarded qualification
Post course recommendations
NATO Countries – Ten hours live control experience then examination to become a fully qualified HC (NT).
Non-NATO Countries – Ten hours live control experience then examined to the same standard of a NATO fully qualified HC (NT).
