Recruit Orientation Phase

What is it?

The Recruit Orientation Phase (ROP) is a two-week phase based out of Centre Royal Marines (CTCRM), Lympstone. 

This phase of your journey to join the Royal Marines involves the RMFA, to the same standard as the CPC, alongside kit and equipment issue and an introduction to training with a one night field exercise.

What will I do?

The phase includes: 
- Drill and personal administration 
- Weapon handling 
- Basic fieldcraft 
- Lectures including: thinking strategies, nutrition, Royal Marines Corps history and health and hygiene  

 
On completion of the ROP you will receive your blue beret and will meet you mainstream training team. During the first 2 weeks of mainstream training you will be expected to pass your weapons handling test and achieve the following scores on the Royal Marines Fitness Test:
- Level 11 MSFT
- 5 overhang pull ups 
- 40 press ups 
- 50 sit ups
